Welcome to Art in Africa
Africa is a continent of infinite creativity and great cultural traditions. African art is thousands of years old. Today, African art and the keeping up of African culture can offer a genuine perspective for the lives and the future of many people in Africa. Art and culture are decisive conditions for the self-confidence of aspiring societies, they encourage their creativity and assertion of identity. The foundation "Art in Africa” was established to offer sustained support to African artists, to further African forms of artistic expression and to forward intercultural dialogue. The work of the foundation intends to show that cooperation with our neighbouring continent should not be determined entirely by politics and the economy, but that it needs to be complemented by the long neglected cultural dimension.
"We are used to seeing in Africa the misery, the disasters and the suffering. The point here is not to ignore this side. But it would be a misconception of Africa if its fascinating cultural wealth was not also appreciated.”"
